Eu estou pensando há muito tempo em propor o
novo tipo de professor. É um professor que não
ensina nada, não é professor de Matemática, de
História, de Geografia. É um professor de espantos.
O objetivo da educação não é ensinar coisas,
porque as coisas já estão na Internet, estão por
todos os lugares, estão nos livros. É ensinar a
pensar. Criar na criança essa curiosidade.
Para mim, este é o objetivo da educação: criar a
alegria de pensar. Eu já tive uma experiência muito
interessante com uma menininha de sete anos. Eu
estava com a cabeça quente e eu resolvi então,
para descansar a cabeça, fazer uma prateleira.
Peguei minha serra circular, minha chave de fenda,
as ferramentas, levei lá pra cima e comecei a me
preparar. Nessa hora chega a minha empregada
com a filha dela. A empregada disse bom dia. Eu
cumprimentei, e foi embora. A menina não foi
embora. Ela ficou parada lá, ela estava intrigada
com os objetos que estavam lá, ela queria saber o
que era aquilo. O que é que esse homem vai fazer
com isso, ficou parada lá. Aí eu peguei a trena, abri
a trena e ela:
–“O que é isso?”
– “Isso é uma trena”
– “Pra que serve a trena”?
– “Serve para medir”.
– “Como é que a trena mede”?
– “Vem cá que eu te mostro”.
Aí, mostrei a trena, os centímetros.
-“Presta atenção, que de dez em dez risquinhos,
tem um risquinho vermelho”.
Veja o que eu fiz: ensinei o sistema decimal pra ela.
Ela percebeu que as coisas vêm em pacotinhos de
dez. Essa é a situação certa pro ensino; quando o
professor fala, provoca a curiosidade da criança, e
a criança interage, a criança pergunta. Como é que
eu incentivo a leitura? Não mandando ninguém ler,
porque a relação com a leitura é uma relação
amorosa. Quando o professor manda, já estragou.
Então você tem que criar o gosto, o gosto pela
leitura. E como você cria o gosto pela leitura? Não
mandando ler, mas lendo.
Uma hora muito boa para leitura é quando as
crianças e os adolescentes vão para a cama. Então
a mãe se senta ao lado e vai ler um livro. A missão
do professor não é dar as respostas prontas. As
respostas estão nos livros, estão na Internet. A
missão do professor é provocar a inteligência, é
provocar o espanto, é provocar a curiosidade.
